A Look at the Advantages of the 2024 Volvo XC60 over the Audi Q5
January 10 2024,
You have probably noticed that the compact SUV segment is one of the most competitive in Canada, even in the premium segment, since it seems every automaker has something to offer in this category. In order to help make your choice easier, here are a few of the advantages the 2024 Volvo XC60 has over the Audi Q5.
Better comfort
While we can’t claim the Audi Q5 is uncomfortable, you will notice a significant difference if you sit in a Q5 and then in a Volvo XC60. Indeed, this is because Volvo has a decades-long reputation of making some of the best seats in the automotive industry, seats that provide support where needed and a generous amount of padding that keeps you comfortable even after many hours behind the wheel. The Q5 on the other hand is much firmer due to its Germanic heritage. The same goes for the suspension, as the XC60 strives for a compromise between ride comfort and dynamic handling while the Q5 is much more geared toward sportiness.
More power and more fuel efficiency
Surprisingly, the 2024 Volvo XC60 has more standard power than the Q5. Indeed, the 2.0L turbocharged mild-hybrid engine that comes in the XC60 is rated at 247 horsepower, while the non-hybrid 2.0L turbo in the base Audi Q5 only generates 201 horsepower. Since this model doesn’t benefit from a mild-hybrid technology, it can’t offer the same level of fuel efficiency as the Volvo, with a combined fuel consumption figure of 9.2 L/100 km versus only 8.4 L/100 km for the XC60.
Even more impressive is the Recharge plug-in hybrid version of the 2024 Volvo XC60, since it benefits from a very generous 455 horsepower output and a useable 58 kilometres of electric range that can allow most drivers to complete their daily commute without needing the gasoline engine. In the case of the Audi Q5, the plug-in version offers 362 horsepower and only 39 kilometres of electric range.
A more modern infotainment system
The 2024 Volvo XC60 benefits from one of the most modern infotainment systems on the market since it is equipped with the Google Built-in system. This technology is very convenient as it gives drivers access to most of the apps they use on their phone directly in the center screen of their vehicle, such as Google Maps and the Google Assistant. This last feature allows drivers or passengers to control most of the vehicle’s features only by using their voice. In comparison with the Audi Q5, the Volvo XC60 is therefore much more technologically advanced in terms of infotainment, which makes it more user-friendly and more connected.
